👋 Is your student ready to gain confidence in the kitchen and in life?
Our Kitchen Life Skills program goes beyond following a recipe. Hosted in a professional kitchen right here in Lakeland, this unique, plant-focused course equips homeschoolers and non-traditional students with the essential skills needed for independent adult living.
Students will gain hands-on experience using fresh, whole ingredients while learning fundamental home economics principles.
✨ What Students Will Learn:
1. Professional Kitchen Skills
- Safety & Setup: Mastering food safety, sanitation, and efficient kitchen organization.
- Technique: Achieving perfect vegetable cuts (knife skills), understanding heat management, and cooking basics like sautéing and roasting.
- Plant-Based Focus: Utilizing legumes, whole grains, and fresh produce to create delicious, balanced meals.
2. Real-World Home Economics
- Budgeting: Strategies for affordable shopping and calculating cost-per-serving.
- Nutrition: Simplifying macronutrients (protein, carbs, fats) and how to meet nutritional needs with plant foods.
- Waste Reduction: Smart food storage, preservation, and maximizing ingredients to save money.
